Eric Martin
Assistant Engineer, Northstar Community Services District
Mr. Martin is a registered professional civil engineer in California and holds a B.S. in Bioresource and Agricultural Engineering (College of Civil Engineering) from Colorado State University. He has over 20 years of experience in engineering and utility management. He joined the Northstar Community Services District in 2006 as the Assistant Engineer and has been promoted through the ranks to Director of Public Works (2022). During his tenure at the District, Mr. Martin has been responsible for providing planning, engineering, and technical services to support approximately $100 million of infrastructure projects that support $1 billion of real estate development. He is also responsible for overseeing the District’s Operations Department, which operates and maintains systems to provide potable water, sewage collection, garbage collection, snow removal, road care, fuels management, and hiking trails in an environmentally sensitive area. He develops the District’s capital improvement/maintenance plans and budgets that include long-range funding plans to support asset replacements. Mr. Martin has a passion for delivering environmentally friendly projects such as the District’s Wood
Energy Facility. Prior to his time at the District, Mr. Martin worked in engineering consulting helping to deliver primarily water related projects in Southern California, Arizona, Minnesota, Wyoming, and Nevada. Mr. Martin was born and raised in nearby Carson City and began working in the Tahoe basin in high school. He currently resides in Verdi, NV with his wife and two sons.
