The Tahoe Prosperity Center facilitated basin-wide community stakeholder meetings to address the blight in our towns. The Regional Land Development Commodities Action Plan is a consensus based set of recommendations springing from that collaborative process. These recommendations will increase opportunities for positive redevelopment, which improves not only the environment, but the economy as well. Recently, the Governing Board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency adopted this issue as one of its top priorities for implementation – in large part due to the collaborative work we facilitated.
Current pilot projects are now being considered in order to test these recommendations. Additionally, by working together with the environmental community, business leaders, jurisdictions and the public, we can accelerate positive change. We want our community to be a great place to live, just as it is a great place to visit. The TPC will continue to support efforts like these pilot projects and will champion change to turn Tahoe around.
